This is us
First colleagues, then friends, now your hosts.
We’re Kevin and Ruben. We met at work in Stuttgart in 2014 and became friends in 2018 in Switzerland. Ruben comes from the front desk of five-star hotels and from restaurant service in Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand. Kevin cooked wherever it interested him, from canteens to fine dining, and before zwölf87 he ran a business with 30 staff.
At some point we wanted a place to stay. Kevin moved to Ravensburg with his wife, Ruben came along, and in 2021 we opened zwölf87 in the historic hospital building, as joint managing directors from day one. The idea: bring big-city breakfast culture to Ravensburg, more than ham and cheese on the table. Not everyone got it at first, but we stuck with it. The celebrations followed quickly, the hotel in 2025.
We run this place the way we think is right. And that’s how we want to be there for you: honest, warm, straightforward.

- BeforeA small YouTube cooking channel and evenings cooking for up to 20 guests in people’s homes.
- April 2021The hospital café “im Spital” becomes zwölf87. With breakfast and brunch our way, and the first events in the evening.
- 2022The first weddings in the vaulted hall, in the garden and in the chapel. The café becomes an event venue.
- 2023Our first cooking class.
- March 2025The building in Schulgasse is already a hotel, but it has seen better days. We renovate it, with no reception desk and no keys. With a new signet, zwölf87 becomes zwölf87 mundwerk.
- 25 July 2025Hotel zwölf87 traumwerk opens. Eat, celebrate, stay: now all three.
